ABOUT OUR ORGANISATION

 

AN INTRODUCTION

In accordance with the National Policy on Education(1986),Govt. of India started JAWAHAR NAVODAYA VIDYALAYAS (J N V s) to identify predominantly rural talents  and train them into ideal citizens for a strong India tomorrow. Presently the J N V are being established in all the districts of 27 states and 7 union territories. They are located across the length and breadth of India totaling 551 as on 23/12/2006.Talented children learn and master skills for seven years in vidyalaya.The child learns in a co-educational residential setup to become self reliant and self confident to face competitive world and shape harmonious life in the society. The schools are fully financed and administered by the Government of India through an autonomous organization, NAVODAYA VIDYALAYA SAMITI with ministry of human resource development. The admissions to J N V s are made through the JAWAHAR NAVODAYA VIDYALAYA SELECTION TEST (JNVST) each year for the students studying in class 5. The qualifying students are admitted in class 6  and given education up to class 12. The students are offered different streams after passing class 10.The medium of instruction in JNVs is in mother tongue or regional language up to class 8 and in Hindi/English there after. Students of JNVs appear for CBSE examination in class 10 and 12.

ABOUT J N V HAVERI INITIATION

JNV Haveri started in the year 2000 December under the supervision of JNV Dharwad and the co operation of Shri Shri Shri Siddarjyogendra Swamiji and people of hangal in a temporary site that is VIRAKTHA MATA premises HANGAl taluk headquarter. after comfortable stay for 4 years, In January 2005 the school was shifted to the permanent campus near MAHARAJPET Village on the road to Hubli from Hangal.

 

 

MAIN FEATURES

 

JNVST admission on the basis of Merit Navodaya Vidyalayas draw their strength from talented children, selected on the basis of merit test, called the Jawahar Navodaya Selection Test, designed, developed and conducted by NCERT initially now, by the CBSE. The test is held annually on All India basis at block and district levels. It is objective, culture-free class neutral and is so designed as to ensure that rural children are not at a disadvantage.

 

Reservation for Rural, S.C., S.T. and Girl Students Admission is predominantly for children from the rural areas, with a provision of 75%. Reservation seats are reserved fro children from the SC and ST communities in proportion to their population in the district but not less that the national average. 1/3rd of the seats are for girl students. 3% of the seats are for disabled children.

 

Co-educational Residential Secondary Schools with Free Education Navodaya Vidyalayas offer free education from Class- VI to Classes XII and are affiliated to the CBSE. Entry to a Navodaya Vidyalaya is in Class-VI only. Each Navodaya Vidyalaya is a co-educational residential institution providing free of charge amenities like boarding and lodging, expenses on uniforms, text books, stationery, to and fro rail and bus fare.

 

Adherence to Three Language Formula The Regional Language is generally the medium of instruction from Class VI to VIII and from IXth class onwards it is English/ Hindi.

 

Promotion of National Integration Navodaya Vidyalayas aim at inculcating values of national integration through special programmes of migration which is scheme of inter regional exchange of students for one academic year between Hindi and Non-Hindi speaking states and vice-versa. Efforts are made to promote understanding of the diversity and plurality of Indian people & cultural heritage through activities that promote national integration.

 

Rural Location, Cost free land State Govt. Navodaya Vidyalayas are located as far as possible in rural areas. The State Govt. is to offer cost free land and rent free temporary buildings for the setting up of Navodaya Vidyalaya.
